Nuraghe of Barumini “SU NURAXI”

At 10 km from Is Perdas, in Barumini rises a Nuraxi, the most important legacy that the civilization of the towers has left us. The archaeological area includes a complex nuraghe and a large village of huts, a unique place that UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site in 1997. The imposing site came to light thanks to excavations conducted in the mid-20th century by Giovanni Lilliu. The cultural centre is named after the ‘father’ of Sardinian archaeology a few steps away from the nuraghe, where events, exhibitions, concerts and educational workshops take place all year round.

“Santa Vittoria Serri” Sanctuary

Is Perdas is located at the foot of the Sanctuary of Santa Vittoria di Serri, which is one of the most significant archaeological areas on the island. The Sanctuary, situated on the top of the Giara di Serri, overlooks the surrounding countryside. The archaeological complex is a wonderful place to explore and discover the different evolutions of the Nuragic civilization. Visitors can observe and find traces of the various stages of the civilization’s development.

Las Plassas Castle

A few steps from Barumini is Las Plassas, a tiny town in the Marmilla area, famous for its castle, built as a border stronghold for the control of the territory of the former Kingdom of Arborea

La Giara di Gesturi – Sa Jara Manna

La Giara di Gesturi, also called in the Sardinian language Sa Jara Manna, is the largest of the Giares.
The Parco della Giara is a place of considerable naturalistic interest, where you can explore and admire the typical flora and fauna of this beautiful location. The cork oaks and the little wild horses of La Giara are some of the highlights you can witness.

“ZAPATA HOUSE” Museum

The noble residence of Sardinian-Aragonese barons, located in Barumini, was constructed in the mid-sixteenth century. It was built on top of a Nuragic building and was discovered in the late 20th century. Today, the residence comprises a palace, garden, large courtyard and agricultural interests. It serves as the seat of the museum pole of the same name and is organised into three sections: archaeological, historical-archival, and ethnographic.

Musei PARC e Cavallino – Genoni

Genoni , 20 km from Is Perdas, is home to several museums of archaeological and naturalistic interest including the P.AR.C., Paleontological and Archaeological Civic Museum, where children can also participate in interesting educational workshops, and the Horse Museum of the Giara.

Museum of the Cavallino della Giara

The Museum of the Cavallino della Giara has the task of collecting the testimonies of the town that hosts it, Genoni, concentrating on the realities rooted in the historical memory of its population and preserved through material culture, work, stories and the environment.

MudA Multimedia Museum

This is the multimedia museum of the Kingdom of Arborea in Las Plassas, a new way of approaching the history of the Sardinian people, thanks to new technologies and multimedia.

Green Train of Sardinia

At 10 km from Is Perdas, from Mandas, is a mediaeval village in the Trexenta area with a glorious past, today an important cultural centre. A trip on the Trenino Verde (Green train) is definitely one of the most unforgettable experiences that Sardinia can offer. The anachronistic train crosses wild and unaltered landscapes, carrying passengers in a world apart from the present time, giving the opportunity to reach the heart of Sardinia, the real and most authentic side, otherwise unreachable.

The small church of San Sebastiano in Isili

Between Is Perdas and Isili, a town about 10 km from Gergei, is the small Sardinian “Mont Saint-Michel”, a picturesque church that stands on a limestone island in the middle of the San Sebastiano reservoir. There are many opportunities for outdoor activities here, from trekking to climbing, from canoeing to cycling.

Cammino di San Saturnino

“Il Cammino di San Saturnino” was born from the awareness of the strong religiosity rooted in the heart of the island and with the desire to revive traditions that have been forgotten over time“. A path born from the collaboration between the Athanatos Association and the Chelu e Luna Association. The former has long been involved in the organisation of major cultural and educational events; the latter, which was founded only recently, was created with the aim of enhancing Sardinia’s historical cultural traditions.

MARATE’ MUSEUM – COPPER AND FABRIC ART – ISILI

The Maraté Museum preserves and recounts two important local craft traditions: Copper working and weaving.The museum is housed in the most important historical building in the town of Isili, the former monastery of the Piarist Fathers, just a 5-minute drive from Is Perdas.It is divided into three sections (ethnographic, artistic and copper), which are spread over two floors and can be visited in about an hour.

MENHIR MUSEUM OF LACONI

The Museum of Prehistoric Statues in Sardinia is located in Laconi and is a 30-minute drive from Is Perdas.It is housed in Palazzo Aymerich and consists of eleven rooms in which the menhir statues found in the Laconi area since 1969, but also from the areas of Villa Sant’Antonio, Allai and Samugheo, as well as other artefacts belonging to the same context as the menhir statues, are exhibited.

AYMERICH PARK OF LACONI

The largest urban park in Sardinia, on the border between the provinces of Oristano and Nuoro. Paradise for botanists, due to the presence of rare plant species, and an ideal place for nature and trekking lovers.

NURAGHE ARRUBIU OF ORROLI

The Nuraghe Arrubiu of Orroli is one of the most imposing and complex monument in Sardinia and among the most impressive in all of Western Europe. It is one with 5 towers!
It owes its name to the red lichens that cover it almost entirely. Indeed, in Sardinian, Arrubiu means “red”.
